Gaustatoppen Norway
Just back after a 2,5 hour climb to the Gaustatoppen.
Next week i’am going on vacation. With my normal photo gear i will take a netbook to make a rough selection of the shots i took that day. I’ve searched for a application that can handle RAW+JPEG shots, and can rate photos with a sidecar XMP file. Also a requirement is that its compact (because of the small screen of a netbook) and lightweight.
And i didn’t find such a tool, so i decided to make my own. With very little programming experience i managed to make my own tool in Visual Studio 2010. It is a early beta version, just enough to take it with me next week.
What does it do?
- No install needed, just a EXE file (around the 100kb)
- It will display the JPEG photo, if you choose to delete it, it will delete also the XMP and RAW file.
- You can rate (stars) the photos (generate a XMP file) thats compatible with popular software like Adobe Lightroom.
- You can start a simple slideshow
- You can rotate photo’s
Known Bugs
- It will only write new XMP files, and don’t edit XMP files that already exists.
- Rotating photos will not be saved.
- In some situations the exposure time is not correctly displayed.
- Focal length in the EXIF info is doesn’t work.
- On some systems the progress bar flips
